When Genevieve sets out to conquer her bedroom insecurities, a captivating and tattooed devil challenges her rule of not getting attached.

Genevieve has it all-great job, stunning apartment, perfect boyfriend… When the latter dumps her for being terrible in bed, she sets out to prove him wrong. With the help of a silly online quiz and her best friend, she compiles a list of things that’ll make her a better lover, determined to go through them one by one. Because she’s too focused on climbing the corporate ladder for anything serious, she creates one simple rule: never see the same man twice.

The first item on her list leads her to Jake, a dashing Aussie with surgical steel in unexpected places. As charming as he is sinful, Jake is like nothing she’s ever known before, with his perfect body covered in tattoos and penchant for teasing. Before long, the silver-tongued devil comes in the way of her resolve, making it hard to stick to her rule.
Can she resist the temptation, or will she give in to her desires? Or better yet, for how long can she resist him?

This was the second book I have stumbled upon on threads that captured my attention and I hope to discover more books this way. Up The Ladder is the perfect opposite romance between a lawyer and tattooist that agree to some adult fun and discover along the way the truth. Gen was the perfect heroine, the workaholic who wanted to walk on the dark side something any romance reader wants to do but she had one big flaw, she was shy and was stickler to the rules until the disaster that unfolds in the book . The result is Jake and their relationship is so much fun. Yes there is the cute factor but the way the D’Arcy brings on the spice is perfect. She does it matter of fact and allows Gen to discover her true personality and discovered that there is more to life than what is expected of her.

Gen is a relatable character and her awakening so to speak up the ladder was fun and Jake was the perfect guy to do so . This story could have gone wrong so many ways, but the way it happened was perfect. The story was believable and takes into count the way society operates today and I love the modern take on dating and romance

Up the Ladder is a fun debut that I did not want to end because the couple was entertaining and D’Arcy pacing was perfect. There was the right balance between spice and story and it was believable as Gen need time to loose up and figure out what she wanted and Jake need to be there for her . They were truely opposites and they need to understand where each of them came from before we could get the satisfying HEA and honestly I want more after reading this book and do hope they appear in the other books of this series. D’Arcy’s debut was the right book to ease my mood back to contemporary romances and I can’t wait to read her upcoming book in the near future.
